Product description

"Coco Montoya is one of the reasons people mistakenly think blues is easy music to play. His fierce attack is so expert yet sounds so effortless that it makes you believe anyone armed with 12 bars and six strings can pull it off." -- Billboard "Few blues guitarists performing today can top the intensity of former John Mayall sideman Coco Montoya's torrid, Albert Collins-inspired attack. Shards of shivering, feedback-enhanced blue notes fly off the Southern California picker's ax and cut deep into the rhythm section's grooves." -- San Francisco Chronicle "Blistering contemporary blues ... piercing attack; funky, shivery guitar tones; and aggressive, soulful vocals." -- Blues Revue

* Catalog has scanned well over 200,000 units! * Over the course of his 30-year career, guitarist and vocalist Coco Montoya's explosive guitar playing and soul-driven voice have propelled him to the upper reaches of the blues-rock world. * From his early days as a drummer to his current status as one of the top-drawing guitarists and vocalists on the blues-rock scene, Montoya has forged his reputation through years of hard work and constant touring. * Averaging over 200 tour dates a year, Montoya packs clubs and theaters around the world. « Why Did He Bother »
As another long time fan of Coco I was terribly disappointed with his latest CD. Why did he bother - I feel it does nothing to enhance his status.

« One of Coco's Best »
For Coco Montoya fans, "I Want It All Back" has to a highpoint of their Spring. There's nothing weak among this collection of songs. Its my favorite CD of this season to listen to while sitting by the pool as the day is dying, a good smoke in one hand and a glass of 15-year-old Irish Whiskey in the other. Life is good with Coco.

« Coco Montoya-I Want It All Back »
I took a chance buying this CD on a whim.(Pre-ordered).When it arrived I played it thinking it would be another great effort by Coco, but was I ever disappointed.Mostly remakes and bad ones at that.Don't waste your hard earned money on this one. Hopefully Coco's next one will be a hellava lot better. It can't be no worse. I am a big fan of his music, but this one does not measure up.I ended up sending this one back.

« A stunning conversion to lounge-liazardism! »
Before I go on, let me say that I've been an ardent fan of Coco's for 20+yrs, have every recording, & seen him probably 40 times. I look forwsrd to the "soul" tunes that he does on every album. But, ....this?
When the cd came in my friend(also, a huge fan) & I popped this baby in with great anticipation. After noting the over production on the 1st track, by #3 my friend looked at me and asked "who is this? Did your aunt bring this back from some Vegas lounge or something?". Every song between "hey Senorita" and the over-produced lounge-show version of "Fannie Mae" has virtually the same lame drum track starting another lame easy-listening lounge show soul tune.
I had to listen to it again after waking up out of my trance just to be sure I hadnt had a bad dream.
I personally think that the Lounge-lizards of planet AOR have kidnapped the REAL Coco &expect to see a ransom demand any day now.....

« Where is the great blues guitar? »
I think Coco Montoya is one of the best living guitarists that we have today. I have seen Coco play live as part of John Mayall and The Bluesbreakers, and I have seen him with his own band twice. He has alot of the same sound that Albert Collins had, when he played guitar, but he is a much better singer than Albert was. I love seeing Coco live, because his songs feature guitar solos that cut like a knife thru you. This new cd is very mellow, and he he seems to apologizing to a past or current love for his behavior. Very little guitar paying that caught my attention. If you are sitting by the fire with your wife or current girlfriend, you will find this cd appealing. Do you wanna here Coco at his best, with great guitar playing and great singing, buy his cd, Dirty Deal, and you will be listening the Coco Montoya that I have seen live.
